Get to know me
Why did you choose this name for you blog?
Because of my relationship with the vehicle, I’m the middle of five kids, so I grew up in minivan in the 90’s. And of course decided I wold never own one as an adult… then I became a mom, ad while SUV’s are amazing I am very short. and like a lot of things in my life I made me vehicle situation much more complicated avoiding the idea of driving one. And when I finally ’embraced the minivan’ my driving life and my general approach to being a mom got so much easier.
So is this just some mommy blog talking about your life and latest coffee drink?
Well if you consider any blog started by a female presenting person who is also a mother then yes. if you mean as the general Genre of woman blogging about her children only, then no. Also let Let ladies/femms/theybies like things, it doesn’t hurt you for people to be happy.
You’ve called yourself a mom three times now, are you going to show your kid(s) monetize them online?
Thanks for noticing the beetlejuice quotient, and absolutely the heck not. it’s an ethical minefield and I’m not strolling into it. Between online predators, the dark pipeline of family vlogging that turns children into little content machines. I want to give my children the right to be anonymous to the degree that I can control. So no. I won’t use their real names or them to make content anywhere and when I mention my kids I will do it only their babyhood nicknames and project designations. Panda and Penguin / Bugbug and Squeaks.
What is this blog about?
It’s about life as a Black American Cisgender Heterosexual interracially married, religiously exhausted, politically infuriated, overeducated millennial mom of two kids with a ‘designer’ doodle dog who is terrified of fireworks who lives in the middle of the least pretty part of California trying to make a life she can be proud of ad content with and raise children who will be kind, self-assured people. I’ll talk about my family in general terms, my hobbies, my mental health, the ups and downs of parenting, earning money online and of course.. the chronicles of acquiring and maintaining my titular minivan.
Anything else?
This blog and it owner do not believe in or fall for the fallacy of tolerance, All humans deserve rights, healthcare shouldn’t bankrupt, there is no marriage equality until we have marriage equality for disabled people as well, children’s full dignity will be the last civil right struggle, trans people are valid, black lives matter, no human is illegal, only undocumented, and most people who invoke MLK would have called him an extremist when he was alive and active. My minivan will be blue and my feminism is intersectional and involves the abolition of men/male presenting people as well.
And I know one of the most radical acts I can do as a black woman in this country is choose to be at home and raise my own children and not someone elses.
